Purpose of the Role
The Construction Manager – Electrical Substations will lead the nationwide construction phase of high-voltage substation projects for Data Centres and BESS projects, for example. The role ensures the safety, quality, schedule, and technical delivery of construction sites while managing a team of site managers. You will work closely with Project Managers and the Production Manager to ensure successful project execution and operational excellence.
The role offers a flexible location. Most projects are based in Southern, Western, Eastern, or Central Finland. Ideally, you are located near one of Eltel Network’s offices, which are spread across the country, to facilitate collaboration and site visits.
Responsibilities of the role:
Responsibility for the construction and installation phase of electrical substations.
Lead, coach, and develop site managers to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality project delivery.
Monitor and report production KPIs, schedule progress, and completion levels.
Manage site-specific execution plans (scheduling, sequencing, and resource allocation – BSM).
Ensure technical solutions, quality control, and compliance in primary and secondary works.
Maintain continuous oversight of site safety and compliance with electrical safety regulations.
Provide operational support, resource allocation, and escalation of risks or challenges to the Production Manager.
Coordinate subcontractors and assess their performance during the construction phase.
Serve as the technical point of contact for clients during construction, ensuring alignment on progress, technical solutions, and reporting.
Implement standardised site management practices and ensure uniform reporting across projects.
We hope you have:
Bachelor’s (B.Eng.) or Master’s (M.Eng.) degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
S1 electrical qualification.
5+ years’ experience in managing substation or high-voltage construction projects.
Proven experience in site management, leading site managers, and supervising subcontractors.
Strong knowledge of 110–400 kV systems.
Fluency in Finnish and English.
Ability and readiness to travel to project sites approximately once a week.
