Our client
Fortum is a leading Nordic energy company committed to driving the transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable future. Within its Corporate Customers and Markets (CCM) division, Fortum combines deep market expertise with a strong customer orientation to optimise power production assets and deliver innovative trading solutions. The company supports both production and consumption side strategies, increasingly focusing on customer-driven flexibility.

Purpose
As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will take on a key role in expanding and managing Fortum’s physical production and consumption portfolio. This is a strategic and operational role where you will help Fortum meet growing customer demand for advanced, value-adding trading services across the Nordic markets. You’ll be part of a seasoned, highly supportive team known for both strategic thinking and hands-on operational excellence.
We are looking for someone who brings real-world experience in physical portfolio management and understands the dynamics of the Nordic electricity market, particularly where production and consumption intersect.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the operative physical trading strategy for Fortum’s Nordic production and consumption portfolio.
- Develop, improve, and price Fortum’s physical trading product offering for both internal and external (industrial) customers.
- Work closely with sales and market analysts to design solutions that bring customer value and enhance flexibility.
- Monitor and optimise portfolio performance (incl. P&L reporting), ensuring transparency and compliance with Nordic power market regulations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with trading desks, analysts, regulatory experts, and sales to ensure consistent delivery of Fortum’s strategic roadmap.
- Participate in product development initiatives and contribute to strategic planning and roadmap execution.
Background and Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, economics, energy systems, finance).
- Experience with physical trading and ideally exposure to financial energy products.
- Practical understanding of product pricing and market-based value creation.
- Experience working with industrial energy companies, with a focus on the consumption side—either in-house or in a client-facing role.
- Understanding of Nordic power markets and regulatory frameworks.
- Fluency in English (mandatory), Finnish and/or Swedish are significant assets.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data into insights and decisions.
It’s great if you also have:
- Familiarity with pricing tools, forecasting methods, and P&L modelling.
- Exposure to both physical and financial energy products.
