The Role
AESC is looking to recruit an Electrode Engineering Manager to join our European GEC team and play a crucial role in supporting the expansion of the battery manufacturing footprint in Europe. The role reports to the senior leadership for the respective area and will focus on building the electrode manufacturing knowledge and driving engineering aspects of the gigaplants from startup and commissioning to full production capability. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of the Europe based global engineering team and be part of a significant industrial transformation within the electric vehicle marketplace. Activities to be carried out from remote and site-based locations, therefore flexibility to travel is essential.
Job Summary
The EEM will initially join the core project team responsible for the Europe and UK battery plant launches particularly in development and execution of a hiring plan for key process and operations engineering team members. This includes developing necessary training plans and recruitment strategies with the respective teams. Mobility 50% regional travel in the EU and if needed internationally.
Acts as a work and thought leader, provides leadership support to the functional engineering teams in their respective regions and gradually integrating into activities within local cross-functional teams in the gigaplants throughout the buildout and commissioning of the new plants.
Responsibilities
You will be building a competent technical team that is responsible for defining, implementing and continuously improving the AESC execution to production systems for electrode manufacturing. This position will be a key driver in process innovation and play a key part of the leadership team to help continued growth plans, support plant commissioning and manufacturing in EU region. We want to maintain the highest level of operational excellence and be at the forefront of electrode manufacturing engineering processes.
Essential Job Functions:
•Supports hire plan for Europe GEC electrode technical team to support buildup of regional gigaplants
•Drafts and updates job descriptions and postings according to the hiring plan, organizes and interviews candidates, and participates in hiring decisions
•Reviews overall progress of the training activity and its effective and make necessary adjustments to ensure the success
•Manages technical interaction with GEC Asia teams on electrode specifications to cell products, interfacing on product development, technology transfer and manufacturing best practices.
•Manages Europe GEC electrode engineering team to support gigaplant operations for equipment integration, commissioning and acceptance testing activities, driving process efficiency through manufacturing optimization and data focused analytics
•Develops a deep-rooted knowledge of the state-of-the-art Electrode manufacturing technologies and facilities which have been selected to produce our exciting products
•Participates in the overall engineering activities for Electrode Creation relating to the full product life cycle such as design concept validation, process development, equipment stabilization and optimization, manufacturing standardization and continuous improvement of the product
•Actively combine innovative mechanical, system controls, and process techniques to establish novel approaches to increase the level of process automation and improve electrode manufacturing efficiency while maintaining product quality
•Provide ongoing technical support and work as an integral part of a multi-discipline cross functional team.

Engineering experience is a must and ideally with high volume battery manufacturing and international experience.
Education/Experience
•A degree in Engineering including chemical, electro-chemical, manufacturing/ mechanical or similar
•Minimum of 8 years work experience in similar role
•Solid experience in rechargeable battery manufacturing or similar
•Experience in automotive, automation/ machinery will be advantage
•Experience of working at medium to large manufacturing company is preferred
•Demonstrated knowledge of production systems and continuous improvement practices and utilization of data to support measurable improvements
•Strong analytical thinking, business acumen and problem-solving skills
•Result-oriented and with good sense of job accountability and integrity
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills; report writing skills, presentation abilities, and motivational skills.
•Highly accurate and detail oriented
•Demonstrate proven skills in the application of systems engineering tools and techniques to deliver world class quality performance levels
•Considerable experience in managing complex inter-disciplinary teams
