NordBlock is hiring a VESS Flex Manager to drive our growth in renewable energy and flexibility markets across Finland, the Nordics, and beyond.
VESS (Virtual Energy Storage Systems) is a breakthrough alternative to traditional BESS, using smart compute resistors to optimise energy production and deliver reliable revenue streams.
In this role, you’ll combine business development, sales, deal structuring, and project delivery, taking opportunities from first contact through to O&M handover. We’re looking for someone with strong knowledge of the Finnish renewable energy sector, a solid industry network, and the commercial acumen to close deals and deliver projects.
As the first hire in this space, you’ll have the chance to shape the strategy, lead pilot projects, and build the foundation for team growth as NordBlock scales internationally.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and nurture relationships with renewable energy producers, particularly in wind and solar.
- Identify and develop pilot projects for VESS system integration, managing the full lifecycle from concept to execution.
- Structure commercial deals that align with client needs and financing considerations.
- Leverage your technical understanding of energy production (e.g., wind farms, solar plants) to strengthen value propositions.
- Directly manage early-stage projects, including contracts, negotiations, and minor claims, escalating major issues only when necessary.
- Shape the go-to-market strategy and establish NordBlock’s position with key sector players.
- Lay the groundwork for building and leading a dedicated team as the pipeline expands.
What we’re looking for:
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a growth orientation—comfortable working in small, fast-growing organizations and motivated by the challenges and opportunities they present.
- Proven experience in renewable energy business development, ideally selling products, solutions, or services to energy producers.
- A strong industry network with the ability to initiate pilot projects and strategic partnerships.
- Solid understanding of energy market dynamics, including pricing models, PPAs, and market fluctuations.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to assess risks, negotiate contracts, and handle financial or legal considerations at a practical level.
