AESC | Senior Indirect Buyer
AESC is looking for an experienced Senior Indirect Buyer to join their new Li-ion Gigafactory based in Douai, Hauts-de-France.
AESC is currently seeking a specialist in purchasing to join their team of purchasing in Douai but aligned with the EU strategy of Indirect Purchasing. Their work environment is fast-paced, highly exhilarating, and completely exciting.
The individual will have a main responsibility that will consist of managing various local commodities e.g. plant utilities, special gases, service contracts, and so on. The scope will be both local and regional because the report will be to the regional manager.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong connections with Regional Purchasing to support strategies and to develop suppliers both regionally and locally.
- Ensure daily operational issues are managed with relevant plant personnel resulting in improved quality/logistical performance of indirect suppliers.
- Lead RFQ, negotiations, and supplier selection for locally managed suppliers.
- Align plant functional needs (in coordination with EU Commodity buyer requirements) to support TdC activities i.e. cost reduction YOY -5 to -15%, increased warranty terms, payment conditions improvements, consignment stock, etc.
- Deliver proactive tenders for the identified Indirect approved suppliers & present purchase spend analysis reporting to EU Commodity buyers.
- Management of Service Contracts to implement YoY improvements.
- Work with internal functions to establish QCD targets, and objectives and monitor/report KPIs to management.
- Provide support to the Purchasing Admin about supplier quality & OTIF escalation issues.
- When required cover Admin to expedite Purchase Orders with Indirect suppliers.
Requirements
- Degree University qualification is essential
- CIPS or MCIPS is highly valuable
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI, SAP
- Proven experience in indirect procurement within a manufacturing environment of at least 5 years covering supplier engagement, negotiation, and cost reductions
- Strong negotiation skills to help influence local functions and work to tight deadlines, time management.
- Excellent communication skills are crucial to this role, to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in French and English
- Travel may be required within the EU
