Helen Ydinvoima Oy, a subsidiary of Helen Oy, is responsible for developing Helen’s Nuclear Energy Program and examining the prerequisites for new nuclear energy production in Helsinki. The program is currently assessing potential plant sites, evaluating plant technologies and suppliers, and developing alternative business models for future nuclear energy production.
Position
Helen Ydinvoima is looking for an experienced Nuclear Technology Manager to join its Nuclear Energy Program in Helsinki.
This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for plant-wide technology leadership throughout the lifecycle of the nuclear facility. You will play a central role in developing the overall plant concept, leading multidisciplinary technical work and building the technical organization required to take the program from technology and vendor selection towards implementation and ultimately operation.
Initially, the focus will be on supporting the vendor selection process and identifying the most suitable technological solutions for the program. As the program progresses, the role will increasingly focus on ensuring technical consistency, implementation quality and that the completed facility meets its design and operational targets.
Responsibilities
Plant-wide technology leadership throughout the facility lifecycle.
Leading the development of the overall technical plant concept.
Setting up and developing a multidisciplinary technical team of internal and external experts.
Planning, coordinating and guiding technical work across different engineering disciplines.
Supporting plant technology and vendor evaluation and selection.
Ensuring consistency between safety, performance, operability, constructability and project requirements.
Resolving cross-disciplinary technical challenges and design trade-offs.
Ensuring technical quality during design and implementation.
Working closely with plant suppliers, authorities, internal stakeholders and external experts.
Background & Requirements
10+ years of experience within the nuclear power industry.
Strong background in technical leadership in nuclear projects or operating nuclear facilities.
Experience integrating multiple engineering disciplines into a coherent plant-level concept.
Broad understanding of nuclear power plant technologies, systems and lifecycle requirements.
Proven ability to manage complex technical interfaces and resolve multidisciplinary technical challenges.
Experience leading technical experts and multidisciplinary teams.
Fluent English; Finnish is considered an advantage.
