Helen Ydinvoima Oy, a subsidiary of Helen Oy, is responsible for developing Helen’s Nuclear Energy Program and examining the prerequisites for new nuclear energy production in Helsinki. The program is currently assessing potential plant sites, evaluating plant technologies and suppliers, and developing alternative business models for future nuclear energy production.
Position
Helen Ydinvoima Oy is looking for an experienced Nuclear Safety Manager to join its Nuclear Energy Program in Helsinki.
This is a senior role with responsibility for leading the safety assessments and analyses of the future nuclear facility throughout its lifecycle. You will establish and develop Helen Nuclear’s safety assessment framework, lead multidisciplinary safety work and ensure that safety requirements are systematically integrated into the design, construction and eventual operation of the facility.
The role covers nuclear safety as well as security arrangements, nuclear safeguards and industrial security, making it a central position in developing Helen Nuclear’s capabilities as a future nuclear license holder.
Responsibilities
Leading nuclear safety assessments and analyses throughout the facility lifecycle.
Developing and establishing the safety assessment framework for the future license holder.
Planning, coordinating and managing safety evaluations and safety case development.
Guiding internal and external subject matter experts.
Ensuring safety requirements are systematically integrated into plant design and development.
Overseeing nuclear safety, security arrangements, nuclear safeguards and industrial security.
Supporting licensing activities and regulatory processes.
Resolving complex safety-related technical issues together with multidisciplinary experts.
Working closely with authorities, plant suppliers, internal stakeholders and external experts.
Background & Requirements
10+ years of broad experience within the nuclear power industry.
Strong background in nuclear safety, safety analyses, safety cases or related areas.
Experience from nuclear projects and/or nuclear facility development is highly valued.
Understanding of nuclear licensing and regulatory requirements.
Ability to establish and develop a fit-for-purpose safety assessment framework across the facility lifecycle.
Experience leading experts and multidisciplinary technical work.
Experience working with nuclear regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders.
Fluent Finnish and English.
