The Role

We are looking for a Manager, Waste and Renewable Feedstocks Compliance to join their Environmental Safety team within Neste’s Corporate Safety unit.

In this role, you will serve as Neste’s global Subject Matter Expert (SME) for waste management, circular economy and renewable feedstock compliance. You will drive the integrity, compliance and continuous development of Neste’s waste and renewable feedstock value chains, ensuring that global feedstock sourcing and waste management processes meet the highest environmental and regulatory standards.

You will also play an active role in monitoring and shaping the regulatory landscape that governs the renewable fuels industry. The position offers broad exposure across the organization and requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including refinery operations, Feedstock Sourcing & Trading, Logistics and Public Affairs, as well as external advocacy organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Neste’s global subject matter expert ensuring corporate regulatory compliance related to waste management, circular economy and Renewable Products (RP) feedstocks, with a particular focus on waste-derived feedstocks and waste streams.

• Monitor EU-level waste and circular economy legislation, ensuring Neste’s activities remain compliant and aligned with interconnected regulatory frameworks.

• Maintain, develop and implement global processes, standards and guidelines related to waste and circularity management across Neste.

• Serve as Neste’s focal point in key advocacy and industry groups (e.g. Cefic Waste NoE and relevant national circular economy groups either in Finland or Netherlands) and provide expert technical support to Public Affairs in EU and national-level advocacy.

• Provide expert technical support to Public Affairs in EU and national-level regulatory discussions and advocacy, contributing Neste’s expertise and perspective to the development of the regulatory landscape.

• Oversee, support and provide training and auditing for the feedstock shipment process, from waste feedstock producers through to refineries, terminals and third parties.

• Provide expert technical support to Renewable Products (RP) Feedstock Sourcing & Trading, particularly on regulatory and compliance matters related to waste-derived feedstocks.

• Support Neste’s sites and other internal stakeholders in complying with waste and circular economy regulations, as well as Neste’s waste-related minimum requirements.

• Collaborate across functions and geographies to identify regulatory risks, develop practical solutions and continuously improve Neste’s approach to waste and circularity management.

Background & Requirements

• 8+ years of proven professional experience in waste management/circular economy work, preferably in waste treatment and/or process industry setting.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent professional competence based on other education. Studies in waste management, environmental sciences or circular economy are considered an advantage.

• Deep knowledge and practical understanding of waste management and circular economy, particularly within waste handling organizations, together with the ability to translate recent regulatory and technical developments into practical solutions.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of EU waste and circular economy legislation, particularly Waste Framework Directive, including end-of-waste criteria / Waste Shipment Regulation/ Circular Economy Act

• Understanding of Animal By-Products Regulation, REACH and the Renewable Energy Directive

• Ability to build strong, credible relationships and influence stakeholders in an international matrix organization.

• A performance and results-oriented mindset, combined with accuracy, attention to detail and strong ownership.

• Adaptability and resilience in a changing environment, with a genuine willingness to take on new challenges and work across different areas of the organization.

• Excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in Finnish or Dutch is considered an advantage.

• Understanding of the renewable fuels industry and its feedstock value chains is a strong plus.
