The Role
As their Sales Director, you will own Gallium's international commercial development: identifying, negotiating, and closing multi-million-euro contracts with defense and civil operators around the world. You will run complex, integration-heavy bids, navigate the export control constraints inherent to the defense sector, and build the commercial capacity, a sales team & a network of agents spanning across Europe & Allied nations.
This is a senior, high-autonomy role for someone who has already closed large international defense or complex-systems deals and knows how to build a commercial function from the ground up.
In several target markets, you will be Gallium’s face to customers, government officials, and industry partners - expected to speak with authority about their technology, identity, and ambition.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Origination & Closing: Identify, pursue, and close multi-million-euro contracts with defense and civil operators worldwide, managing long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles from first contact to signature.
Complex Bid Management: Coordinating with a growing Bid team, lead complex, integration-heavy bids — coordinating technical, legal, and export-control workstreams with internal teams and system-integration partners to deliver competitive, compliant proposals.
Export Control & Defense Compliance: Coordinating with our Export Control Function, navigate French and international export control regimes and defense procurement processes to structure deals that clear regulatory and diplomatic hurdles.
Team & Network Building: Build and lead Gallium's sales capability — hiring and coaching sales talent and/or recruiting and animating a network of local agents and representatives — to maximize our ability to prospect and close deals globally.
Negotiation & Deal Structuring: Own commercial negotiations end-to-end, from pricing and contractual terms to offset and industrial compensation clauses common in defense procurement, protecting margin while securing signature.
Relationship Management: Build and sustain long-term relationships with procurement officers, prime contractors, and government stakeholders across multiple geographies.
Profile & Requirements
10+ years of experience in complex, high-value B2B/B2G sales, ideally in defense, aerospace, or another regulated hardware/systems industry.
Track record closing multi-million-euro international deals, including system integration or turnkey programs.
Deep understanding of defense export control regimes (French and international) and government procurement processes.
Team-building experience: hiring and leading sales talent and/or managing a network of independent sales agents or representatives.
Excellent negotiator: comfortable with long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder, cross-cultural negotiations.
Languages: fluent in English and French; additional languages are a strong plus given the international scope of the role.
Willingness to travel extensively and frequently, including to demanding or sensitive regions.
Gallium ambassador appetite: demonstrated track record of representing an employer externally (defense trade shows, roadshows, bilateral events, speaking engagements) with the genuine drive to carry a company’s story and identity in front of customers and government officials. We expect this person to want to show up for Gallium, not just sell for it.
