Purpose of the Role:

We are seeking two (Senior) Project Managers to lead complex electrical substation projects, including those serving data centres, BESS projects and other critical infrastructure, from inception to completion. The role focuses on ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to agreed technical and quality standards. You will take full ownership of project delivery, including technical, financial, and contractual responsibilities, and serve as a key interface between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. The projects will include new installations, upgrades, and expansions of electrical substations, often in collaboration with international clients, ensuring reliable power supply to critical facilities such as data centres.

The role offers a flexible location however, most projects are based in Southern Finland. Ideally, you are located near one of Eltel Network’s offices, which are spread across the country, to facilitate collaboration and site visits.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage multiple electrical substation projects (including 110 kV substations and related systems).

• Take overall responsibility for project scope, schedule, budget, and quality in accordance with the company’s Project Excellence methodology.

• Manage project teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.

• Coordinate and communicate with stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, consultants, and internal departments (procurement, design, finance, HSSEQ).

• Conduct risk and opportunity assessments, proactively resolving conflicts and complex project challenges.

• Oversee procurement, contractor management, and planning in collaboration with relevant internal teams.

• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including FIDIC, YSE, and other applicable contracts.

• Monitor project KPIs such as schedule adherence, completion rates, resource utilisation, and budget performance.

• Lead initiatives to continuously improve project processes, reporting, and financial performance.

• Travel to project sites as required (primarily southern Finland, with occasional northern projects).

We hope you have:

• Around 10 years of experience managing demanding industrial or infrastructure projects, with experience in electrical substations.

• Proven track record in projects with budgets of 5-10M€ or strategically significant projects.

• Experience working with both domestic and international clients.

• Familiarity with FIDIC, YSE, and fixed-fee contracts and experience in contract management and claims handling.

• Technical degree in electrical, civil, or relevant engineering discipline.

• Prior hands-on experience as a project manager or site manager in electrical substations or high-voltage systems.

• Strong leadership, negotiation, and mentoring skills.

• Ability to manage complex projects simultaneously and provide guidance on project planning, classification, and risk assessment.

• Understanding of procurement processes, contractor management, and design coordination.

• Financial acumen with the ability to track and manage project KPIs, budgets, and margins.

• Clear and effective communication skills in English and Finnish, both written and verbal.

• Ability to proactively identify risks and implement measures to mitigate them.

• Familiarity with GIS and AIS-type systems is advantageous.

• Understanding of HSSEQ requirements and the ability to enforce quality and safety standards.
