Our profile
We are setting up the Global Engineering Center (GEC) Europe as part of the global GEC, working closely with entities in the US, China and Japan. As part of GEC Europe, you will be part of a diverse team of individuals who are highly skilled in battery cell manufacturing and have a proven track record in designing and ramping up battery cell manufacturing facilities worldwide. Together we will build the future of battery manufacturing in Europe.
The role
As an Equipment Compliance Engineer, your objective is to lead CE Marking and functional safety in machinery for battery cell production. You will work with machinery builders and integrators in assessing risks, build Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), cause and affect matrix, to understand and validate safety functions and attest their performance level or safety integrity level. Through close collaboration with equipment and process engineers, production teams and our global engineering network, you will contribute to the successful scaling of our battery manufacturing operations in Europe. You will work throughout the whole project life cycle from RFQs, going through design, construction, FAT, SAT and ramp up.
Your responsibilities
• Build internal requirements and guidelines for CE Marking, ATEX, Pressurized Equipment with the aim of help suppliers deliver compliant equipment.
• Collaborate internal stakeholders within global engineering network to ensure seamless alignment between automation, facility operations, process and HSE related to machinery safety.
• Overview the technical files to attest they are compliant with CE Marking requirements.
• Collaborate with machinery suppliers from RFQ until SAT to ensure all requirements are met and the equipment has been properly assessed and its safety functions validated.
• Be able to lead safety machinery retrofit and access solutions that would be of minimum impact from production and costs perspective.
• Ensure all control and automation systems are scalable, flexible, and meet future operational needs.
• Provide technical support and training to local engineering teams.
• Document process changes, trials, improvements and create guidelines for knowledge sharing / traceability.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
• 8+ years of experience Functional Safety and CE Marking, with a focus on Machinery.
• In deep knowledge of LVD, MD, EMC, PED and ATEX Directive and their harmonized standards.
• Proven ability to calculate performance level, safety integrity level, approaching speeds, safety distances and openings.
• Prior experience with non-EU machinery suppliers is a plus.
• FS Eng and/or CMSE certification is a plus.
