AESC | Senior Reliability & Safety Engineer
AESC is looking for an experienced Reliability & Safety Engineer to join their Gigafactory based in France
AESC is a global leader in battery technology and lithium-ion battery manufacturing, with state-of-the-art facilities in Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and China. As part of our ongoing expansion in France and across Europe, we are seeking a Senior Reliability & Safety Engineer to monitor, address, and resolve safety and reliability issues during mass production.
The position is located in Douai, France.
Responsibilities:
- Apply professional expertise to identify various failure modes and mechanisms in battery cells
- Utilize statistical methods to evaluate product failure probabilities and deliver comprehensive reports to customers in line with project milestones.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Project Management, Quality, Global Engineering Center, etc.) to develop and implement corrective actions for failure modes that do not meet required standards.
- Ensure production line failure probability meets customer ppm targets and respond to inquiries from both internal teams and external customers.
Skills & Requirements:
- Master’s degree or higher in automotive engineering, electrochemistry, mechanical engineering, reliability, or a related field
- Over 5 years of experience in battery cell safety and reliability analysis, failure analysis, and battery technology.
- Strong proficiency with reliability data analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
- In-depth knowledge of reliability acceleration testing principles, FMEA methodologies, and Six Sigma practices.
- Excellent project coordination and communication skills
- Fluent in English

AESC is investing almost two billion euros to build a battery manufacturing plant in the Hauts-de-France Region. The new Douai site will have a production capacity of 9GWh in 2024, with the potential to reach 24GWh by 2030 to produce state-of-the-art, low-carbon batteries.
