Purpose:
We are seeking a Senior Application Developer/Lead Engineer to develop and maintain advanced tools for power plant management, hydrogen systems, and energy solutions. In this senior role, you will set best practices, lead technical initiatives to modernise environments and ensure high-quality deliverables.
This position offers the chance to enhance your software expertise while deepening your understanding of European energy sectors like district heating, electricity, and hydrogen. You'll work on a long-term microservices project, improving the software to meet evolving industry needs.
Responsibilities include leading software design and development, guiding developers, and collaborating across teams to deliver innovative, compliant solutions that align with business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and improvement of key software tools and environments.
- Modernise documentation systems and support updating the software to meet the industry requirements.
- Develop and maintain backend solutions using Java, Spring, and Hibernate.
- Support DevOps pipelines, including setting up and optimising CI/CD workflows.
- Design, maintain, and optimise APIs, ensuring robust integrations.
- Engage with cloud services (primarily Azure, with potential AWS integration) to support scalable deployment.
- Ensure secure coding practices and manage the lifecycle of component libraries.
- Contribute to system architecture and maintain documentation for microservices implementations.
- Support a Scrum-based Agile development environment and assist in sprint planning and execution.
- Address performance challenges related to high data throughput and real-time calculations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical solutions and ensure alignment with business goals.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring, and Hibernate frameworks.
- Knowledge of secure coding principles and library management.
- Hands-on experience with databases, especially SQL and PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline setup and optimisation.
- Familiarity with microservice architecture, cloud platforms (Azure preferred), and containerisation (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Basic knowledge of API development and integration.
- Basic experience with Git version control and GitHub Actions.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Experience with performance tuning and handling large-scale data processing.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
- Fluent in Finnish and English.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- React (frontend experience) is a plus but not essential.
- Familiarity with C++ and time-series data technologies.
- Exposure to cloud cost optimisation and deployment practices.
- Understanding of energy industry regulations and systems is a bonus.
