Fortum is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to work in major hydropower investment projects and the development of the hydropower portfolio.

Purpose
As a technical project manager at Fortum, you will be an integral part of an experienced and competent team responsible for major investment projects and the development of their hydropower portfolio. Fortum has 55 project managers and technical experts in their team in Sweden and Finland, and are seeking to strengthen this team with a new colleague who has knowledge and experience in electrical automation, electric power and preferably hydropower.
Your work is important for the implementation of Fortum's investment plans and for good technical requirements in their projects. The projects are mainly investments in existing hydropower facilities but also developments of new technical solutions. You run and participate in feasibility studies, develop technical specifications and act as technical support during the implementation of projects and during supplier negotiations. We are looking for someone who is ready to visit the sites and get hands-on when the project requires. You will also contribute competence to Fortum’s technical competence networks.
The position is to be located at one of Fortum’s offices: Östersund, Sundsvall, Borlänge, Västerås, Stockholm or Karlstad. A home office is also a possible option.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee hydropower projects by developing, installing, and maintaining automation and control systems critical to hydropower operations.
- Ensure efficient project timelines and budgets and handle technical documentation and site commissioning activities.
- Co-operate and manage contractors on site.
- Readiness to get your hands dirty on-site when needed.
- Provide technical support during the implementation phase.
- Participate and manage feasibility studies and supplier negotiations.
Requirements
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, ideally in electrical and automation engineering.
- Previous work experience in automation and control systems in relevant fields, e.g., hydropower, nuclear, oil & gas, district heating and cooling, or other large rotating equipment technologies.
- Deep technical understanding of rotating equipment (turbines and generators).
- Strong understanding of SCADA and PLC configurations.
- Previous project engineering/management experience or interest in developing in that area.
- Fluent English & Swedish.
- Ability to travel within Sweden.
- Driving license.
