AESC | Contract and Claims Manager
AESC is seeking to hire a Contract and Claims Manager for their Project Performance Centre. The Contract and Claims Manager plays a critical role in safeguarding the financial and legal interests of the company in EPC projects. By managing contracts and claims effectively, they help prevent disputes, minimize financial losses, and ensure smooth project execution. This role can be located in either Douai (France), Sunderland (U.K), or Navalmoral de la Mata (Spain).
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement standard contract procedures globally and across the portfolio according to the team's overall strategic plan.
- Draft contracts and agreements in accordance with international standards to safeguard the company's interests.
- Conduct team training sessions to ensure that all contract and claims stakeholders have met their responsibilities and obligations.
- Develop a contract management detailed strategic plan aligned with the company policies, the stakeholders' requirements, and the overall strategic plan considering schedules, cost, scope, and risks.
- Ensure the earned value concept in all the contract management activities.
- Responsible for preparing and consolidating all the required documentation to manage claims and counterclaims in support of negotiations.
- Responsible for monitoring contract obligations and notifying the relevant parties in case of deviations.
- Review official correspondences to ensure alignment with the contractual obligations and commitments.
- Provide clear contractual analysis and advice to the organization on matters concerning contractual obligations, contract risk, and claim management.
- Collaborate in preparing the project closing report and summarizing lessons learned for feedback to the organization relevant to Contract Administration.
Background and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or similar.
- Master’s degree in construction law and arbitration or equivalent.
- 15 years of experience in contract and claims management combined with project management expertise.
- Proficiency in communicating on all issues concerning contractual agreements and amendments.
- Experience with construction management software and tools for efficient contract administration and claim management.
- Proficiency in international contract standards such as FIDIC, NEC, IChemE and other relevant standards.
- Expert in resolving disputes and conflicts that may arise during the project, employing mediation or alternative dispute resolution methods.
- Proficiency in English.
- Willingness to undertake business travels of approx. 30%.
- Capacity to operate on a project site or corporate office basis.

Work at a world-class and innovative Gigafactoryy
AESC is investing almost two billion euros to build a battery manufacturing plant in the Hauts-de-France Region. The new Douai site will have a production capacity of 9GWh in 2024, with the potential to reach 24GWh by 2030 to produce state-of-the-art, low-carbon batteries. The site will initially supply the Renault factory which will be increasingly dedicated to producing the brand’s electric vehicles.
