AESC | Process Engineering Manager
AESC is looking for an experienced Process Engineering Manager to join their Gigafactory project based in Douai, Hauts-de-France.
AESC is looking to recruit a Process Engineering Manager to join their Gigafactory project in France. The role will be key to a successful launch of the facility and will be responsible for process engineering, delivery, commissioning and ongoing production support for their dedicated process area.
The process engineering manager will be managing an existing team of process engineers and will need to use their expertise and experience to guide the team through the installation and commissioning phases before leading the ramp up to production volume. Following the ramp up phase, the process engineering manager will be responsible for process engineering and ongoing production support, ensuring quick issue resolution, continuous optimization, and seamless introduction of engineering change.
Responsibilities
- Prioritizing safety throughout all stages of project implementation, from specification to commissioning and utilization
- Verifying equipment specifications for accuracy and completeness
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and permits
- Estimating and controlling budgets within their area of responsibility
- Overseeing and auditing quality documentation such as PFMEA, Control plans, and Process Sheets
- Ensuring rigorous equipment acceptance criteria and executing FAT & SAT testing to the highest standards
- Effectively managing installation, coordinating teams, and resolving conflicting priorities
- Directing commissioning activities to ensure a robust process for operational readiness
- Continuously improving production processes to enhance cost efficiency and output
- Proactively seeking innovation and excellence in lithium-ion manufacturing
- Developing and delivering project tracking reports to ensure plan adherence
- Providing clear project status reports to leadership
- Managing the engineering team to deliver exceptional support to production
- Managing individual interviews (definition of objectives, follow-up, etc.)
- Ensuring the operational management of the team (information, time off, etc.)
- Leading problem-solving efforts for complex issues, overseeing a cross-functional, multi-skilled team.
Background and Requirements
- A degree in Engineering including chemical, electro-chemical, manufacturing/ mechanical, materials or similar
- Experience in team leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, French is strongly advantageous
- Willingness to travel internationally <20%
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and word processing tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in project delivery within a manufacturing setting, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
- Experience of working at medium to large manufacturing company is preferred
- Experience leading engineering teams in the procurement of high-precision, high-volume equipment
- Senior-level management of vendors
- Approval and leadership of production equipment commissioning
- Proficiency in 6Sigma and quality control methodologies
- Utilization of timing plans and project management tools for monitoring and reporting progress
- Extensive knowledge of machine and operational safety
- Leading problem-solving efforts for complex manufacturing issues
- It would be beneficial to have previous involvement in battery manufacturing or similar technologies (e.g., high-speed consumer goods, high-speed machining or assembly, printing, web conversion)
- Background in Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Food, or other high-volume quality-focused environments
