Purpose
As a Plant Controller, you will focus on managing and optimising the financial operations of a manufacturing plant, ensuring accurate reporting, effective budgeting, and strategic cost management. The role involves preparing business plans, forecasting, and comprehensive performance reports while providing insights to support decision-making and operational improvements. Key responsibilities include overseeing product costing, plant spending, and production plans, as well as implementing asset and inventory management policies to minimize losses. The position also entails leading a team, collaborating with finance teams at the country and group levels, and driving cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic business planning and forecasting information, including labour, utilities, travel, training and other costs.
- Provide monthly performance reports covering manufacturing costs and support the management by analysing and interpreting the financial performance of the business.
- Approve plant spending PR based on yearly budget and perform effective budget control.
- Review the plant's production and purchase plans and cash needs.
- Conduct an economic review with each department to meet cost-saving targets.
- Support and work closely with Country and Group Finance teams.
- Oversee product costing for the current and future.
- Asset and inventory management e.g. setting up internal policies, minimising inventory loss and scrap from the production process.
- Manage a small team which will grow in line with business expansion.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. CPA/ACCA/CIMA/CMA preferred
- Ideally around 5-10 years of experience in finance, and experience in operating in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years of experience as a manager or supervisor, providing leadership, coaching, guidance, and contributing to staff development.
- Understanding of accounting fundamentals, and experience in managing and maintaining financial controls.
- Experience in using SAP and Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other PC applications.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills at all levels including the ability and confidence to present to the management team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making techniques, with a record of using these to influence operational improvement.
- Driven, flexible and committed to supporting the business expansion and excellence in financial operations.
- Organised and able to prioritise workload and tasks independently.
- The ability to fluently speak, read and write in French and English.
