Our client manufactures and supplies lubricant products globally, active in both the Automotive and Industrial sectors. They operate in over 20 countries and are one of the world’s most recognisable brands. With strong marketing coupled with great product range, they are aiming to become the top supplier globally.

Location: Europe

The Position: Demand Planner

  • This role is managing & executing the European Demand Planning process to ensure participation/alignment/execution and synchronization of the European Demand Planning activities across all European markets.
  • Key objective is to plan and execute the monthly demand planning process, at market level, together with all cross functions involved for each market, to ensure market management review and sign off on the demand plan. Further, this role supports the monthly product review process.
  • This position is part of the demand planning function which is part of the Sales & Operation Planning (S&OP) function.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Execute the monthly demand planning process (at market level) and support to the product review process to ensure a timely execution of the whole S&OP process in an integrated way; successfully communicate forecast estimations to management;
  • Implement the weekly demand review together with all commercial community of the markets to ensure plan execution and initiate escalation in case of deviations from the targets; propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy;
  • Contribute to the yearly budget process run by finance and commercial community and translate it into a long-term planning from a demand planning perspective;
  • Drive the discussion and consequent actions together with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to close any market gap versus yearly BDG targets (sales, revenue, and gross profit);
  • Monitor and execute continuous improvements on commercial/demand planning related KPI’s as direct measurement of the effectiveness of the demand planning process;
  • Execute and contribute improvement projects which are linked directly to S&OP as well as non-S&OP related matters
  • Communicate with externally with some customers to engage to install a proper co-managed forecasting process by PLI and main OEM customers as well as communicating internally with almost all internal functions like Sales, Marketing, Operations, Logistics, R&T, Finance

Key Challenges:

  • Execute the defined Demand Planning process from a single SKU up to the level of market consensus sales forecast with all the stakeholders;
  • Analyze the sales history and define based on statistical forecast algorithm the baseline forecast which then will be discussed with commercial departments (sales & marketing);
  • Ensure the preparation and execution of the monthly demand planning meetings at market level;
  • Organize and execute weekly checkpoints with all the markets to monitor the plan execution and to highlight differences versus the plan;
  • Upload the agreed demand plan into the ERP system (SAP ECC);
  • Maintain a dedicated Demand Planning tool to improve forecast accuracy and drive the sales community into the contribution to this tool;
  • Prepare and follow-up of the key customer forecast process;
  • Analyze the financial impact of the demand plan and gap vs. BDG (volume, revenue, gross profit) and initiate discussions to close this gap with Sales & Marketing;
  • Assist in risk assessment and mitigation activities; identify opportunities to meet customer demands during constrained supply;
  • Communicate to the management forecasts, key assumptions, volumes, gaps, risks and opportunities for the business for all functions involved;
  • Contribute and interact with Marketing for the new product launches;
  • Follow-up of product phase in and phase out;
  • Contribute to product / SKU rationalizations together with marketing;
  • KPI follow-up, improvement actions definition & execution;
  • Interface to Supply Planning - factory set-up according to demand expected & inventory targets; Follow-up of agreed actions out of the different monthly and weekly meetings

Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or other relevant fields

Skills/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in demand planning or supply chain planning experience of similar industry;
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge;
  • Proven stakeholder management experience especially within a commercial environment (Sales & Marketing)
  • People Management - able to interact and engage with internal senior stakeholders and other colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with personnel at all organizational levels. 
  • SAP knowledge requested in the area of SD and MM
